CJ461 Media Relations for Law Enforcement

This course provides an overview of departmental protocols for release of information to media outlets, 公众, and other government agencies. The course also outlines issues involving dissemination of information and addresses state and federal freedom of information and privacy protection laws. The course will also explore how media influence, including social media, 互联网, and “fake news,” shapes how 公众 perceives the criminal justice system. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be proficient in writing press releases and speaking professionally to media outlets.
